Dr. Savio Barreto is a Gastrointestinal, HPB, and Liver Transplant Surgeon, academic, and researcher. He earned his PhD degree while studying the pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis. He has authored over 300 clinical and basic science papers and book chapters. He is listed on Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists list. He has edited three books on pancreato-biliary and abdominal surgery. He has served, and continues to serve, on national and international committees involved in the development of guidelines for the management of pancreatic cancer. His active research interests include acute pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, and young-onset cancers.
