Yannick Kerler received his Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Reutlingen University in 2019 and is now pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry at Potsdam University. He works as a Research Assistant at Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, Branch Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses (IZI-BB) since 2020. His research topics mainly include Aptamers, SELEX, Molecular Beacons, Diagnostic Assays, and Nucleic Acids.
Dr. Marcus
M. Menger is currently acting head of the ‘Cell-free and Cell-based
Bioproduction’ department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and
Immunology, Branch Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses (IZI-BB) in Potsdam. He
completed his diploma and doctoral studies in chemistry at the Georg-August
University of Göttingen and worked in the Department of Biochemical Kinetics at
the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen. After fifteen
years working in various biotechnological start-up companies, he set up the
‘Functional Nucleic Acids - Aptamers’ research group at the Fraunhofer
Institute. He has successfully acquired and managed numerous research and
industrial projects and published many papers in various scientific journals.
He has supervised several students in their Bachelor, Master, and PhD programs
and is a member of several scientific organizations such as GDCh, GBM, DNA or
INSOAP. His interests include nucleic acids, aptamers, selex, aptasensors,
analytical and diagnostic assays, biosensors, lateral flow assays, and
therapeutic nucleic acids.
