Prof. Fernanda Maria dos Reis Brito e Rodrigues Correia concluded her PhD in Informatics Engineering at the University of Aveiro (UA), Portugal, her MSc in Computer Science at the University of Coimbra (UC), Portugal, and BSc at the UC. She has two post-graduations in Information Systems at the UA and in Education Inspection from the Bissaya Barreto Higher Institute of Coimbra (ISBB), Portugal. She has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Informatics and Systems Engineering (DEIS) at the Polytechnic University of Coimbra, Portugal (IPC), since 1992 and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the UC from 1986 to 1992. She was the European Coordinator of two European projects, EMaCS and COLT, from 2004 to 2011. She has led and has been a member of the jury panel for various projects and internships within the various degrees offered in the DEIS and IPC, as well as under the Erasmus program. She has authored articles in prestigious international journals and conferences. Her research work focuses mostly on programming teaching and learning, computational intelligence, complex networks, bioinformatics, machine learning, and business intelligence.
Ana Rosa Pereira Borges has been with the Polytechnic University of Coimbra, Portugal (IPC, www.ipc.pt), since 1989, where she is currently a Coordinator Professor at the Department of Computer and System Engineering, Coimbra Institute of Engineering (ISEC, www.isec.pt). She received her Computer Engineering degree (1989), her Masters in System and Information Technology (1995), and her PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, specialty in Informatics (2005), from the Coimbra University, Portugal. Her teaching duties include programming courses, decision support systems, and also operations research and optimization courses. Her current research areas include multiple objective programming optimization, decision support systems, fuzzy sets, and programming teaching and learning. She has participated in several projects and had some papers published in journals and proceedings of conferences and participated in scientific committees at international conferences.
Jorge Bernardino completed his PhD at the University of Coimbra in 2002. From 2005 to 2010, he was President of the Coimbra Engineering Institute (ISEC), Portugal. In 2014, he was a Visiting Professor at the CMU. From 2017 to 2019, he was the President of the ISEC Scientific Council. He was the Director of the Applied Research Institute (i2A), Polytechnic of Coimbra, from 2019 to 2021. He is currently a Coordinator Professor with the Polytechnic of Coimbra—ISEC. He has authored more than 200 publications in refereed conferences and journals. He has participated in several national and international projects. His main research interests include Big Data, Databases, NoSQL, Internet of Things, and Software Engineering.
