María-Mercedes Pastor-Blas is a full professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Alicante (UA). She has been awarded four six-year research grants and one six-year grant for knowledge
transfer and innovation. She holds a
degree in Chemistry (1990) and a PhD in Chemistry (Materials Science) (1995).
She began her research in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the
University of Alicante in 1990, where she completed her PhD thanks to the
achievement of PETRI and FPI fellowships. She has been an associate
professor (1995-1996), a faculty assistant professor (1996-2001), a university
professor (2001-2009), and since 2009, a full professor. She has completed several stays in foreign research
centers: Laboratoire de Physique de la Matière Condensée, Collège de France,
CNRS, Paris. France (1994); Center for
Adhesives and Sealant Science, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA (1994-1997); School
of Mechanical & Materials Engineering, University of Surrey, Guildford,
Surrey, UK (1998);· College of Engineering, Department of Materials Science and
Engineering, University of Cincinnati, USA (1999-2000). Her research focuses on
the synthesis and characterization of polymeric, ceramic and
carbonaceous materials, and on the low-pressure plasma treatment of
materials for applications in catalysis, environment, and energy. She is the
co-inventor of two patents which are in commercial exploitation and participates
in the organization of several dissemination activities.
