Professor Agata Stanek, MD, PhD, is a specialist in internal medicine and angiology (vascular medicine); she works at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. She is the Director of Doctoral School of Medical University of Silesia; a regional consultant in Angiology for the Silesian Voivodeship; a member of the Regional Board for the Health Needs of the Silesian Voivodeship; a member of the Medical Examination Board for the specialty certificate in angiology; a board member of the Polish Society for Angiology, European Society for Vascular Medicine; in the VAS-European Independent Foundation in Angiology/Vascular Medicine; the President of the Polish Society for Angiology (2024‒2026); and the Secretary of the UEMS Division of Angiology/Vascular Medicine (2022–2024). Her clinical and research work is focused on arterial, venous, and inflammatory vascular disease, chronic wounds, and lymphatic edema. Professor Stanek has authored more than 300 publications in peer-reviewed journals. She is also the co-author and scientific editor of five monographs. For her activities, she has been awarded, among others, the Golden Cross of Merit, the Golden Laurel of Skills and Competence, and the Golden Badge of Honor for Merits to the Silesian Voivodeship.
