Prof. Dr. Tao Yang holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Architecture, and a Doctorate of Engineering from the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy from University College London (UCL). He is currently an associate professor at the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University. His research and teaching areas are space syntax, city information models (CIMs), digital spatial planning and design, digital twin cities, and urban design. He is the vice chairman of the Digital Twin and Future Cities Committee of the China Urban Science Research Association, the deputy director of the Smart Human Settlement Environment and Spatial Planning Governance Technology Innovation Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, a consultant expert of the Digital Twin Technology Application Working Committee of the China Internet Society, and an expert of the Urban Infrastructure Operation Monitoring Expert Group of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the New Urban Infrastructure Construction Expert Group of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. He is a member of the Smart City Working Committee of the Chinese Society for Surveying and Mapping, the Architectural Planning and Post-Evaluation Branch of the Architectural Society of China, the Big Data Committee of the Chinese Society for Urban Science Research, and the Academic Steering Committee of the International Space Syntax.
