Author Biographies

Devki N. Talwar received his BSc (1968) and MSc (1970) with distinction (gold medalist) from Agra University and a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics (1976) from Allahabad University in India. In 1977–1980, he worked as a visiting scientist at the French Atomic Energy (CEA, Saclay) in France. In 1980, he joined the Physics Department of the University of Houston as a visiting professor. From 1982 to 1987, he was part of the faculty at Texas A&M University. He joined the physics department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1987 as a professor until his retirement (2018). Since 2018, he has worked as a distinguished university professor at the Department of Physics, University of North Florida. His areas of expertise include Raman spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, photoluminescence, lattice dynamics, the band structures of semiconductors and superlattices, and impurity identification and characterization.
