Author Biographies

Dr. Behrooz Astaneh is the Associate Editor of the Canadian Medical Association Journal and Vice President of the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors. He studied medicine in Iran and pursued further studies in medical journalism at Westminster University, London, UK. Dr. Astaneh is the founder of the first Master of Science program in medical journalism in Iran and served as the Head of the Department and Editor-in-Chief of the Iranian Journal of Medical Sciences. He was a COPE Council member, a member of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, and a Director of the World Association of Medical Editors. As a publication ethicist and consultant on medical writing, publishing, and ethics, Dr. Astaneh has made significant contributions to the field. Notably, he has conducted more than 750 workshops on various aspects of medical writing and publishing over the past 20 years and chaired two international congresses on publication ethics. Currently, he is completing his PhD in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University, focusing on creating evidence-based medical journalology.
