Dr. Clare L. Fitzpatrick was awarded her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 from University College Dublin, Ireland. She joined Boise State University in August 2016 as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering and director of the Computational Biosciences Lab. Before joining Boise State, Dr. Fitzpatrick worked as a Senior Research Engineer at the University of Denver’s Center for Orthopaedic Biomechanics. The overall objective of Dr. Fitzpatrick’s work is to directly impact patient quality of life by guiding surgical decisions and developing and evaluating implants and surgical techniques that optimize patient functionality and mobility. She works primarily in the area of computational biomechanics, with a focus on finite element modeling.
Dr. Tyler N. Brown received his PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He also holds an MS in Health and Human Development from Montana State University and a BS in Exercise Science from the University of Puget Sound. He joined Boise State University in 2015, as the Co-Director of the Center for Orthopaedic and Biomechanics Research. Prior to his arrival at Boise State, he worked at the U.S. Army’s Center for Military Biomechanics. His current research focuses on assessing the impact of body-borne load on soldier performance and injury risk. He is also involved in many collaborative projects, including efforts to integrate novel imaging techniques and miniature, lightweight inertial sensors into biomechanical assessments of soldier performance.
