Prof. Luke Chimuka received his MSc and PhD from Lund University, Sweden. His research focuses on developing modern sample extraction techniques, particularly using passive sampling and smart polymers such as molecularly imprinted polymers. He applies combinations of these techniques to analyze a wide range of samples. His interests also include profiling phytochemicals and herbal compounds in various indigenous plants and their possible value additions in the food industry. Prof. Chimuka has three patents. In 2011, he received the Chromatographer of the Year award from the Chromatographic Society of South Africa for his contributions to developing sample preparation techniques. In 2020, he was voted as one of the top 60 analytical scientists in the world by The Analytical Scientist.
