Dr. Brian Ernest Staveley is a Professor of Biology at the Department of Biology, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, where he became an Assistant Professor in 1999, an Associate Professor in 2005, and a Professor in 2011. He earned a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. from the University of Guelph and his Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Alberta, followed by a post-doc at the University of Toronto. His research is in molecular cell biology and developmental genetics, focusing on aging, enhancing homeostasis, and increasing lifespan and “health span” by investigating Drosophila (fruit fly) as a model organism.
