Vytautas Smirnovas received a BSc in Biotechnology and an MSc in Bioengineering from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuania in 2000 and 2002, respectively. He obtained his PhD from the Department of Physical Chemistry at TU Dortmund University, Germany, in 2007. He is currently a Research Professor and the Director of the Institute of Biotechnology, Life Sciences Center, Vilnius University, Lithuania. His research topics mainly include prion proteins, protein aggregation, amyloids, and protein misfolding. He has published more than 90 publications in peer-reviewed journals with an h-index of 27 (Scopus, August 2024).
