Author Biographies

Maria Laura Martins-Costa is currently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Universidade Federal Fluminense. She graduated from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and received a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) in 1989 and her PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1991 from PUC-Rio. She served as a FAPERJ recent doctoral Fellow at the PUC-Rio from 1991 to 1993, as a CNPq Fellow at the National Laboratory for Scientific Computation (LNCC-MCTI) from 1993 to 1996, and as a FAPERJ Fellow at Universidade Federal Fluminense from 1996 to 1999, as an Adjunct Professor from 1999 to 2007, as an Associate Professor from 2007 to 2015 and became full professor since 2015. She has experience in the area of mechanical engineering, with an emphasis on modeling and simulation of non-linear transport phenomena, dealing more specifically with transport phenomena in porous media and nonlinear heat transfer.
