My name is Ahmed Abdulsalam Maaroof. I am a lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Koya University, Kurdistan Region, F.R. Iraq.I have a BSc degree in Fuel and Energy Engineering from the Northern Technical University, Kirkuk, Iraq. Also, I have a MSc in Environmental and Energy Engineering from the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department, Sheffield university, Sheffield, UK. Currently, I am studying for my PhD in Oil and Gas Engineering (Gas Flare Technology) in the Petroleum Engineering Department, Engineering Faculty, Koya University, Koya, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. My research interests include gas flare design, flare CFD analysis, air pollution, and water pollution.
Joseph D. Smith has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with over 30 years’ experience in the Chemical and Petrochemical Industry. Dr. Smith has published over 40 papers, has given more than 70 conference presentations, and holds 8 patents. Dr. Smith has contributed two chapters to the John Zink Combustion Handbook and published one chapter in the Industrial Burner Handbook. Dr. Smith has developed and applied comprehensive CFD models for reactive flow systems including pulverized-fuel combustion and gasification systems, process heaters, and gas flares. Dr. Smith serves as an expert witness for Gas Flare Performance and Hydrocarbon Processing and is a certified Cause and Origin Fire Investigator and is certified by the Department of Homeland Security for determining critical infrastructure risk. Dr. Smith has worked for the Dow Chemical Company, Cabot Corporation, Koch Industries, and, most recently, Idaho National Laboratory. Currently, Dr. Smith holds the Wayne and Gayle Laufer Endowed Energy Chair at Missouri University of Science and Technology where he also serves as Director of the Energy Research and Development Center and Executive Director of the Small Nuclear Modular Reactor Research and Development Consortium.
My name is Mohammed H.S. Zangana. I have been the President of Koya University since the 20th of June, 2022, and am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Koya University, Kurdistan Region - F.R. Iraq. I have a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering, a M.Sc. degree in Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering on natural gas processing, and a Ph.D. degree from Nottingham University in Multiphase Flow for Oil and Gas Production. I have been working in higher education for more than 16 years, and I taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students at Petroleum and Chemical Engineering Departments. My research interests focus on the oil and gas industry, especially, on natural gas processing and multiphase flow for oil and gas production.
