Dr. James O Hill is a professor in the Department of
Nutrition Sciences, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL, USA.
He is one of the world's foremost experts in obesity. For over 40 years, he has
been conducting research to understand how obesity develops, the health
consequences of obesity, and strategies to prevent and treat obesity. He was an
investigator in the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and a site PI for the
Action for Health in Diabetes (Look AHEAD) study. His work in precision nutrition
aims to identify why individuals differ in how diets impact health. He is a
past recipient of an NIH MERIT Award. He was elected to the National Institute
of Medicine in 2018. He previously served as director of the Colorado NORC and
was the founding Executive Director of the University of Colorado Anschutz
Health and Wellness Center. He is a past president of The Obesity Society and
The American Society for Nutrition.
Dr. Holly R Wyatt is a professor in the Department of
Nutrition Sciences, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL, USA.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Microbiology at the University
of Texas System, Austin, TX, USA in 1989 and her Doctorate in Medicine at the
Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, USA in 1993. She is the co-founder and
medical director of The State of Slim. She has more than 20 years of clinical
experience in weight reduction using behavioral treatment, dietary therapy,
physical activity interventions, weight loss medications, and surgery. She was
the medical director for seasons four and five of ABC’s TV show Extreme Weight
Loss.
