Dr. Ch Srinivasa Rao acquired his Ph.D. in Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry from IARI, India, and Post-Doctoral (Fellow) from Tel-Aviv University, Israel. Currently, he is serving as Director of ICAR-NAARM, India, and has been since 2017. Before this, he served as Director of the ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (2014–2017) and as a Project Coordinator (All India Coordinated Research Project on Dryland Agriculture) from 2013 to 2014. Dr. Rao is the recipient of about 40 national and international awards, which include the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award for Outstanding Research in Agricultural Sciences, 2019, in the field of Natural Resource Management and Agricultural Engineering. Dr. Rao received prestigious awards from the Hon’ble President of India and Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for his research and management contributions. Dr. Rao is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and is a member of various national and international Committees including the International Dryland Development Commission (IDDC), Egypt, and the Asian Long-Term Experimental Network for Agriculture (ALTENA), Japan. Dr. Rao was as National Coordinator for the ICAR flagship program on climate change, NICRA. Dr. Rao’s specialization areas include soil carbon sequestration, carbon balance, dryland production systems, climate change, contingency crop planning, agriculture research management, and climate policy.
