Holger F. Hofmann is currently active as a Professor of the Quantum Matter Program of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering at Hiroshima University in Hiroshima, Japan. He obtained his doctorate from Stuttgart University in 1999 for research on quantum noise in semiconductor lasers, followed by post-doctoral research at Tokyo University and at Hokkaido University. With over a hundred publications in international journals, he has contributed to a wide range of research areas in quantum physics, including quantum feedback control, quantum teleportation, the development of optical quantum logic gates, the experimental verification and evaluation of entanglement, and the improvement of sensitivity in quantum metrology. Much of his recent work is concerned with fundamental questions of quantum physics related to the problem of quantum measurement and the apparent absence of a measurement-independent reality.
