Prof. Georgia Kourlaba is an Assistant Professor in research methodology and evidence-based practices at the Faculty of Health, Department of Nursing, University of Peloponnese. She earned her M,Sc, in Biostatistics from the NKUA and her Ph.D. in nutritional epidemiology-biostatistics from Harokopio University, in Athens, Greece. She is a member of the Public Health Experts Committee of the Ministry of Health and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Public Health Organization. For more than 12 years, Georgia has served as a biostatistician/research fellow at the Dietetics and Nutritional Science Department of Harokopio University, at the National School of Public Health, and at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), gaining research experience in the design and statistical analysis of epidemiological studies, clinical trials, and economic evaluation studies. Back in 2014, Georgia co-founded the non-profit civil partnership Collaborative Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Outcomes Research (CLEO), and she served as Managing Director/Associate Scientific Director till December 2020. She has been teaching “Research Methodology” and “Biostatistics” for more than 12 years in six postgraduate programs, all organized by the Medical School of NKUA.
Dr. Panagiotis Moulos is a Research Assistant Professor at BSRC Alexander Fleming. He is a bioinformatician with strong computational, mathematical, and statistical backgrounds and rich experience in research as well as scientific software development. He holds a Ph.D. in bioinformatics from the School of Chemical Engineering, NTUA, Athens, Greece, an M.Sc. in bioinformatics from ULB, Brussels, Belgium, and a diploma in applied mathematics and physics from NTUA, Athens, Greece. Among others, his research interests include the computational and statistical analysis of high-throughput genomics, proteomics and metabolomics data, relative software development, and focuses on the construction of analytic workflows for efficient data analysis. He is also interested in the application of machine learning techniques to high-throughput biological data with a focus on dimensionality reduction and feature selection stability issues. Panagiotis has (co)written many scientific publications regarding the above domains and has created several biological data analysis software packages. He has held R&D positions in Greece, France, and the Netherlands.
Prof. Andriana C. Kaliora works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Dietetics and Nutritional Science, School of Health Science and Education, Harokopio University. She obtained her bachelor's degree in 1999 and her doctoral degree in 2003 from Harokopio University. Her research interests are centered on the effect of human nutrition, foods, food components, and natural products on human health, for examples, nutritional interventions to study the effect of ingredients/foods on biomarkers associated with chronic diseases; bioactive compounds in foods of the Mediterranean diet; studies on the absorption and bioavailability of phytochemicals; and studies of the antioxidant power of extracts from natural products and foods.
