Author Biographies

Dr. Ahmed Ewais is director at the e-Learning Center, Arab American University. He completed his PhD  in Computer Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel , and has been awarded Zamalah for research visit. He led the VR programmer team in "Virtual Reality as an Innovative and Immersive Learning Tools for HEIs in Palestine-TESLA". He has published more than 30 papers in various good quality conferences and journals. He contributed in a number of international projects related to Virtual Reality in education. His teaching disciplines include HCI, UI/UX, VR/AR, Mobile Programming, and his research interests include MOOC, usability studies related to mobile applications, VR and AR applications, utilization of AI in educational context.
Dr. Stylianos Mystakidis is an innovator and researcher on Educational Technology at the University of Patras, Adjunct Faculty member at the Democritus University of Thrace, the Hellenic Open University and Visiting Professor at the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, Italy. He holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland (2019), a Master of Arts in Education in Virtual Worlds at the University of the West of England Bristol, United Kingdom (2016) and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (1998). He has published over 100 works in peer-reviewed international journals, conferences and books on Metaverse, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Playful Design, Gamification, Storytelling, Serious Games, Instructional Design, Open and Distance Education. His works have generated considerable impact as he is included in the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists (University of Stanford’s list, 2022) and has received several academic awards.
Dr. Walid KHALILIA is an Associate Professor in Forensic Biology at the Department of Forensic Science at Al Istiqlal University, and has been awarded the Scientific Research Award for the year 2022, from the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Studies and Scientific Research for his scientific research in the field of the COVID-19 epidemic. Moreover, he awards a visiting research fellowship from the Palestinian Quebec Science Bridge (PQSB), in project entitled “Interpretation of Forensic Biological Evidences: Towards a New Model in Palestine”, in Canada.  He is a supervisor in many scientific research projects such as “Virtual Reality as an Innovative and Immersive Learning Tools for HEIs in Palestine” and “Boosting Innovation in Education and Research of Precision Agriculture in Palestine”. Dr. Khalilia has published more than 30 articles in various journals. He served in different positions at Al Istiqlal University: Vice president for academic affairs, Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Chairperson of Al Istiqlal University Research Journal Council. In addition, he was the Founder and Chairman of Forensic Science Department. He is an active member in many scientific societies. He is a premier member of Arab Society for Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine, founding member of Palestinian Society of Biological Sciences. He is an active researcher who works in the fields of Forensic Science, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Environmental Radiobiology.

Mr. Said Khasib is a lecturer at biology and biotechnology department, Arab American University. He has published more than 11 papers in various journals and conferences. He has been awarded DAAD scholarship for training and conducting a project for the use of N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) in cell culture, for the retinal disease called glaucoma (Ruhr University of Bochum- Germany) _15.06.2012-13.08.2012. He was acting as a head of biology and biotechnology department at Arab American University for 6 years (2016-2020 and 2021-2023). He was a member of the VR team in "Virtual Reality as an Innovative and Immersive Learning Tools for HEIs in Palestine-TESLA" for forensic biology. His research interests include animal cell culture, apoptosis, MTT assay, virtual reality as a teaching tool.
