Prof. Tzipora C Falik ZACCAI is an Associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Bar Ilan University, Tzfat, and the founder and Director of the Institute of Human Genetics, Western Galilee Medical Center, Nahariya. He obtained his MD in 1982 from the Institute of Technology, Israel, and board certified in Pediatrics (Israel) and Medical Genetics (Israel and the USA). Throughout his academic career, his research focus has been on the identification of the causative genes of rare genetic diseases. Of particular
interest are Hereditary Spastic Paraparesis (HSP), Gray platelet syndrome (GPS), DNA repair defect syndromes, and other neurogenetic disorders. In 2009, he was honored with the prestigious Visiting Professorship Award from the Feldman Family Foundation and visited the Department of Biology at Stanford University, where he and his colleagues were studying an array of research topics such as DNA repair mechanisms related to cancer and aging, and their related advanced technologies. He was elected as the outstanding physician for the year 2009 at the Western Galilee Medical Center, Nahariya. He has published many scientific papers and reviews in various professional international journals, including in the field of cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX).
