Manoranjan Misra received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Utkal University, India, in 1970, an M.S. degree in metallurgical engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines in 1977, and a Ph.D. degree in metallurgical engineering from The University of Utah in 1981. He is a Professor at the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, University of Nevada-Reno. He has spent over 30 years in materials-related research with over 250 publications. His current research interests include applying advanced materials for medical diagnostics, including tuberculosis, colorectal cancer, and COVID-19. He was named the 2021 University of Nevada, Reno Foundation Established Innovator.
