Guanzheng Zhuang received his PhD in Material Science and Engineering (focused on mineralogy and the application of clay minerals) from China University of Geosciences (Beijing). He also studied as a joint PhD student at Sorbonne University in France (2017–2018). He worked as a postdoc at the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry in the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2019–2021) and as an associate professor at the Institute of Resources Utilization and Rare Earth Development in the Guangdong Academy of Sciences (2021–2022). He is currently an associate professor at Guangdong University of Technology (2022–present). He works in the field of clay minerals and clay-based materials. He is also a committee member (2021–present) of the Early Career Clay Scientists Committee of the International Association for the Clay Study and an editorial board member of Applied Clay Science (2023–present) and Frontiers in Chemistry (2022–present).
