Author Biographies

Henry Leonel Cárcamo Macoto received his Bachelor's degree in Tourism Business Management from the Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC Honduras) in 2016. Then, in 2018, he received his Master's degree in Techniques for Environmental and Territorial Management (Univesitat de València, Spain) and is now pursuing his Doctoral degree in Geomatic Engineering from the Universitat Politécnica de València, Spain. He works as an Environmental and Social Monitoring Analyst at Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) in Honduras (2020–present). His research topics mainly include natural protected areas, cultural heritage, protected and cultural landscapes, legal framework of cultural and natural heritage, and environmental and social management.
Dr. María José Viñals is a full Professor at the Higher School of Architecture in the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain. She got her Doctorate in Geography and was the Director of the UPV International Office and the Director of the Spanish Wetland Centre (Ministry of Environment). Her field of expertise focuses on Natural and Cultural Heritage Planning and Management, Public Use and Conservation of Natural Protected Areas and Heritage Sites, and Tourism and Heritage Interpretation. Dr. Viñals has led interdisciplinary teams that have conducted research in countries other than Spain (Italy, Jordan, Armenia, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Honduras, Guatemala, Antigua & Barbuda, Uruguay, USA). She is also a consultant to the Spanish Ministry of Environment, Spanish National Parks, the International Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, the International Spanish Agency for Cooperation and Development, the UNESCO Word Heritage Centre, to the UN World Tourism Organization, to United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment), and with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Dr. Viñals has published more than 150 international research works (papers, books, conference papers, book chapters, etc.), as well as papers for popular magazines such as National Geographic. Additionally, she has successfully prepared two applications for the UNESCO Creative City designation.
