and coach
Holden
T. Daum is an educator and coach at Churchill High School, a prominent 6A
public high school in San Antonio, Texas. For the last two years, Holden has
been the defensive backs coach for the varsity football team and an assistant
coach for the girls’ softball team. Previously, he held the position of Head
Varsity Football coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Sioux Falls Lutheran School
in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Mr.
Daum was raised in San Antonio, Texas, and was a student-athlete at Augustana
University in Sioux Falls, SD, where he played NCAA Division 2 football for
five seasons. Additionally, he played one season of college baseball at
Augustana University and was a proud member of the 2018 NCAA Division 2 National
Championship Baseball team. Holden earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Education in 2021 and a master’s degree in Sports Management in 2022 from
Augustana University. He holds the distinction of being the first student at
Augustana University from the Sports Management department to formally publish
his master’s Thesis in a peer-reviewed journal.
Dr. Luke Thomas
Daum obtained his B.S. from the University of Michigan in 1997, his M.S. from
Central Michigan University in 1999, and his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular
Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2007. He is currently
the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder (Cofounder) of LuJo BioScience
Laboratory, based in San Antonio Texas. At LuJo BioSciences, he and his
colleagues are innovating next-generation sample collection devices and
point-of-care (POC) kits to enhance detection testing for human, animal, and
agricultural applications in the United States and globally. Dr. Daum has
invented three significant products that are currently available in the biotech
market: PrimeStore® Molecular Transport Medium (Longhorn Vaccines &
Diagnostics) for molecular sample collection, the SeraSil-Mag™ Virus/Pathogen
Kit (Cytiva) for viral extraction, and Xtract-Free™ (LuJo BioScience), a
specimen collection medium for ‘extraction-less’ PCR utilizing AptaGuard™ technology
for nuclease inactivation. His research has resulted in the publication of over
40 peer-reviewed scientific papers and the acquisition of 12 U.S. and
international patents.
