Author Biographies

Dr. Sanjay Jain, professor, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, has teaching experience spanning 25 years. He is Member, Academic Council of NLSIU, Bengaluru, holds NHRC Chair, and is the Convenor of Equal Opportunity Cell at NLSIU, Bengaluru. He has published a number of books and articles. Currently, he is editing the Ninth edition of M.P. Jain’s commentary “Indian Constitutional law” in two volumes. He is Country Advisor, India, “Inclusive Public Space: Law, Universality and Difference in the Accessibility of Streets” Project (period 2020-2023) project funder European Research Council (Advanced Grant Scheme), host institution University of Leeds, Primary Investigator, Professor Anna Lawson. This project is a cross-country study of the right to accessibility of PwDs. His project, funded by ICSSR Delhi under special call of Covid-2019: “Socio-legal, Economic and psychological Implications of CORONA on the Lives of persons with Disabilities in general and visually challenged persons in particular in Pune district: An empirical and Situational Analysis”, has been accepted by committee. He has received a number of awards, including ‘Most Efficient Disabled Employee’ National Award at the auspicious hands of the then President of India, Hon’ble Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2004. His areas of specialisation are disability rights jurisprudence, comparative constitutional law, feminism, legal theory, and international trade law.
Ms. Malika Jain is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Law, MIT ADT University, Pune. She graduated from Amity University Madhya Pradesh with a gold medal.  She is also the recipient of the M/s Sitaram Jindal Foundation Gold Medal in the LLM program from National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. She has qualified for a UGC-NET Junior Research Fellowship. Ms. Jain has rendered research assistance to Prof. Dr. Sanjay Jain in the book project, M.P. Jain’s Indian Constitutional Law, 9th edition, LexisNexis. She has published a few research articles and book chapters and contributes to blogs. Besides public law, she is deeply passionate about engaging with human and disability rights.
