Prof. Dr. Kalidas Shetty studied until High School at Bishop Cotton School in Bangalore, India, and Pre-University studies at Mahatma Gandhi College in Udupi, India. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a Major in Microbiology in 1983 at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, India. He received an M.S. in Bacteriology in 1985 and a Ph.D. in Microbiology in 1989 at the University of Idaho, USA. Dr. Shetty undertook postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Agro-Biological Sciences in Tsukuba, Japan, and at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and was tenured faculty at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for 20 years. Since 2013, Dr. Kalidas Shetty has been the Founding Director of the Global Institute of Food Security & International Agriculture (GIFSIA) and Professor of Plant Sciences at North Dakota State University. His research interests focus on metabolic innovations to regulate plant redox-responsive secondary metabolites and their microbiome-based bio-transformations for climate-resilient agriculture, and food systems and have relevance to solutions to global public health challenges.
Dr. Chartchai Khanongnuch is an Associate Professor at the Division of Biotechnology, School of Agro-Industry, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai, Thailand. He also works at the Research Center of Microbial Diversity and Sustainable Utilization, Faculty of Sciences. He received his B.Sc. in Radiologic Technology and his M.Sc. in Biology from Chiang Mai University and obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Chemistry from Hokkaido University, Japan. His research interests mainly include Microbial Enzymes and Technology, Applied Microbiology, and Feed Biotechnology.
