Dr Meskerem Abi is an Assistant Professor at Addis Ababa University. She obtained her B.Sc. degree in Agricultural Resource Economics and Management from Hawassa University in 2007, and her M.Sc. degree in Food Security Studies from Addis Ababa University in 2011. Dr Meskerem received her Ph.D.
degree from Wageningen University, the Netherlands, in 2019. Dr Meskerem has served in various administrative positions. Currently, she is an Associate Dean for Academic Programs at the College of Development Studies, Addis Ababa University. Before joining Addis Ababa University as a lecturer, she served as an expert in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation at the Girar Jarso district, North
Shewa Zone of the Oromia Region. Dr. Meskerem has participated in various research projects and published several scientific papers. Her research and teaching areas focus on food security, right to food, social protection, food sovereignty, sustainable land management, sustainable agriculture, climate change and variability, vulnerability and resilience, institution and policy, and gender and development.
Prof. Dr. Degefa Tolossa is a Professor at the Addis Ababa University. He earned his M.A. in Human Geography (1992–1996) from the Department of Geography, School of Graduate Studies, Addis Ababa University, and his Ph.D. in Geography (2000–2005) from the Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology Management, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. He served as the Associate Dean and Dean at the College of Development Studies, Addis Ababa University from February 2008 to 2010. He is also a Member of the Ethiopian Geographers’ Association, OSSREA, and the Agricultural Economics Society of Ethiopia. His research interests include agricultural geography, food security, rural livelihoods, urban poverty and food security, geographic thoughts, pastoralism and agro-pastoral studies, vulnerability, disaster risk management, and project evaluation.
