Prof. Dr. Horia Chiriac received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iaşi, Romania. He is currently an Associate Professor of Physics and a Ph.D. Supervisor with the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iaşi. He is also the General Director of the National Institute of Research and Development for Technical Physics, Iasi, Romania, and the Coordinator of the Centre of Excellence for Magnetic Materials and Their Applications of the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research. His research topics mainly include production and characterization of amorphous and nanocrystalline magnetic materials as ribbons, wires, and glass-coated wires, thin films, and powders; theoretical studies on the correlation between the preparation conditions of amorphous and nanocrystalline metallic materials and their magnetic properties; and theoretical models for the explanation of magnetization processes, magnetoelastic properties, and new magnetic phenomenon in amorphous and nanocrystalline magnetic materials. In addition, Prof. Dr. Horia Chiriac has been the Chairmen of the European Magnetic Sensors and Actuators (EMSA) Conference International Advisory Committee since 2000.
