Dr. Jin Sung Ahn received her Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Chung-Ang University in 2024 and is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chung-Ang University College of Pharmacy. Her research primarily focuses on natural products, including the activity testing, extraction, isolation, purification, and identification of secondary metabolites. Dr. Ahn has published several posters and papers in various journals and is currently leading multiple research projects. Her work aims to explore the beneficial properties of natural products and present new possibilities for drug development. Her research interests include the following keywords: natural products, biological activity analysis, isolation, and identification of secondary metabolites.
Chung-Hyeon Lee is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the Dankook University College of Pharmacy. He holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacy and has authored several papers in diverse journals, primarily focusing on the use of natural ingredients. In 2023, he led a pivotal research project that explored the isolation and pharmacological efficacy of active compounds found in Davallia mariesii roots, peanut sprouts, and Metasequoia glyptostroboides fruits. His research interests are particularly focused on Alzheimer's disease, beta-amyloid pathology, and the pharmacology of natural products.
Professor Xiang Qian Liu, from the Department of Pharmacy at Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Kyung Hee University. He has published over 150 papers and has applied for 14 invention patents, securing 10. His research focuses on the active ingredients of natural products, the quality evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine, and the development of new technologies for manufacturing biologically active natural substances. Key areas include anti-inflammatory activity screening and the study of the material basis of Oriental medicine using advanced separation technologies.
Professor Kwang Woo Hwang teaches at Chung-Ang University College of Pharmacy, where he also completed his bachelor's degree. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Professor Hwang has received several accolades, including the Seoktap Lecture Award and the University of Chicago Committee on Immunology Retreat Best Presentation Award. He has published over 60 papers, obtained six patents, and authored two books on topics such as medical cell biology. His research focuses on cellular and molecular immunology.
Assistant Professor Mi-Hyeon Oh, currently serving at Chung-Ang University College of Pharmacy, earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Pharmacy from Pusan National University and her doctorate from Chung-Ang University. She has extensive experience in the field of regulatory science, having worked in the General Toxicology Department at the National Institute of Health and Safety, the Herbal Medicines Confectionery/Herbal Medicine Research Department at the Food and Drug Safety Administration, and as a Health Researcher at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Her expertise lies in regulatory pharmacy, and she teaches introductory courses in these areas.
Professor Soyoung Park earned her Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Chung-Ang University and her Doctorate in Herbal Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She conducted research at Northwestern University School of Medicine in the United States, focusing on identifying the causes of Alzheimer's dementia. Currently, she is a professor at the College of Pharmacy at Dankook University. Her main research interests include developing natural products for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's dementia, promoting bone health, and creating natural materials to suppress inflammation. She has published over 80 papers on natural products, secured numerous patents, and delivered numerous academic presentations.
Professor Wan Kyunn Whang is a distinguished faculty member at the Chung-Ang University College of Pharmacy, where he also completed his Doctorate in Herbal Medicine. He recently led a significant project on the development of quality evaluation technology for herbal medicine preparations, sponsored by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Professor Hwang has authored over 60 papers and many books on herbal medicine, contributing extensively to the field. He has served as chairman of the Korean Herbal Medicine Association's Professorial Council and the Korean Pharmaceutical Society's Herbal Medicine and Natural Products Division. His educational focus is on medicinal botany, and his research interests include the extraction, isolation, purification, and verification of natural product ingredients; stabilizing quality and developing analytical methods; and verifying the biological activities of natural products, with particular attention to anti-diabetic and anti-Alzheimer's properties.
