Chengyi Zhao is the director of the Land Science Research Center of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, a doctoral supervisor, a national second-level professor, a Jiangsu Province dual-innovation talent, a part-time doctoral supervisor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xinjiang Agricultural University, and the chief scientist of the Geographic Information and Artificial Intelligence Innovation Team. He is a recipient of the State Council Government Allowance (No. 2014290135), a leading scientific and technological talent of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Xinjiang Tianshan Talent Scholar, and the winner of the "Western Scholar Outstanding Contribution Award" of the Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation and the Zhu Liyuehua Outstanding Mentor Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has served as the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Desert and Oasis Ecology, the director of the Aksu Oasis Farmland Ecosystem National Field Observation and Research Station, and the director of the Xinjiang Southern Cultivated Land Conservation Scientific Observation Experimental Station of the Ministry of Agriculture. He has long been engaged in research on surface processes and regional responses to climate change, 3S integration and application, intelligent remote sensing and AI technology, watershed ecohydrology, carbon reduction methodology, and disaster science.
