Cristiani Folharini Bortolatto graduated in Pharmacy from UFSM (2010). She holds a master's degree (2012) and a PhD (2015) in Biological Sciences from UFSM and obtained a sandwich doctorate (PDSE) in Chronic Diseases (CIMUS) at the Center for Molecular Medicine of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC, 2014). During her scientific initiation and postgraduate studies, she worked on the biochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology of organoselenium compounds. She is an acting professor at UFSM (Neurophysiology). She is currently an adjunct professor at the Center for Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Food Sciences (CCQFA) in the field of Biochemistry at UFPel, with several courses. He works in the Graduate Program in Biochemistry and Bioprospecting (PPGBBio) at UFPel, coordinating the Laboratory of Molecular Biochemistry and Neuropharmacology (LABIONEM) associated with the Neurobiotechnologies Research Group (GPN). She serves as a member of the Ethical Committee for the Use of Animals of UFPel and of the Central Committee for the Management of Animal Facilities, as well as of different committees of PPGBBio. She works in the fields of biochemistry, neuroscience, and behavior, with extensive experience in the following topics: bioactive synthetic compounds, selenium, oxidative stress, psychiatric disorders, eating behavior, and obesity.
César Augusto Brüning is an adjunct professor at the Federal University of Pelotas. He has a degree in Pharmacy (2010), a master's degree (2012) and a PhD (2015) in Toxicological Biochemistry from the Federal University of Santa Maria, with a sandwich doctorate from the Università Degli Studi di Milano, in Italy. He obtained a postdoctoral degree from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Federal University of Santa Maria (2015). He works in the Postgraduate Program in Biochemistry and Bioprospecting (PPGBBio) at UFPel and is coordinator of the Biochemistry and Molecular Neuropharmacology Laboratory (LABIONEM) at CCQFA-UFPEL. He is a CNPq level 2 research productivity fellow. He is a reviewer for several international scientific journals. He serves as a member of the Ethics Committee on the Use of Animals at UFPEL. He has experience in the area of biochemistry and pharmacology, working mainly on the following topics: organic selenium compounds, serotonergic system, pain, depression and inflammation.
