My name is Julia Gabriele Dani. I am a PhD candidate at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) since 2023. My PhD research focuses on plant biology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul with the title "Papel dos tricomas florais na evolução em Calydorea Herbert. (Iridaceae): uma investigação através de estudos evolutivos, biologia da reprodução e anatomia”.Since 2019, I have been working with botany and the title of my master’s dissertation was “Explorando Limites: Morfometria e modelagem de nicho ecológico para dois grupos morfológicos do gênero Sisyrinchium L. (Iridaceae, seção Viperella). I published a total of five papers in scientific journals. My research area encompasses evolutionary and floral biology studies with an emphasis on Iridaceae, particularly the Calydorea genus. My main interest lies in advancing knowledge of the Iridaceae family using diverse approaches to support conservation efforts.
My name is Camila Dellanhese Inácio. I am a biologist with a PhD in botany from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, entitled "Infrageneric classification of Sisyrinchium L. (Iridaceae) and taxonomy of sections Cephalanthum and Viperella (pro parte) in the Southern Region of Brazil". Since I defended my thesis in 2017, I have published seven papers in scientific journals and one book chapter, all involving the genus Sisyrinchium. I am the author of “Flora e Funga do Brasil”, an online database that has morphological descriptions, identification keys and illustrations for all species of plants, algae and fungi known in the country. I currently work in the area of environment consulting with an emphasis on urban vegetation and the analysis of the impact of construction buildings on the environment.
My name is Tatiana Teixeira de Souza Chies. I am a professor at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) since 2015. My PhD was in plant Biology at Paris-Sud University (France) with the title "Molecular phylogeny of Iridaceae and the study of the origin and evolutionary relationships within Lilianae” in 1996. Since 1998, I have advised PhD thesis and master dissertations in botany, genetics and molecular biology, and I have published a total of 88 papers in scientific journals. My research area comprises biosystematics and evolutionary studies with emphasis in Iridaceae and Poaceae lineages. My major interest is furthering knowledge surrounding biodiversity using phylogenetic and population genetic tools to support conservation actions. I am a member of the Botanical Society of America, IAPT (International Association for Plant Taxonomy) and I am associate editor for Botany Letters and for Acta Botanica Brasilica.
