Dr. Sara Cerra completed her Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 2022 at Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) under the supervision of Prof. Ilaria Fratoddi with a dissertation entitled "Noble metal and polymeric nanoparticles: synthesis, characterization, properties, and applications". In 2016 she obtained the BSc. in Chemistry at Tor Vergata University of Rome (Italy). In 2018  she obtained the MSc. in Chemistry in the same university. Since 2022, she is a post-doctoral research fellow at NanoSynthesis and Characterization Laboratory (NSC_Lab) at the Department of Chemistry of Sapienza University (scientific supervisor Prof. Ilaria Fratoddi). Dr. Cerra is a member of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and received numerous grants for conference participation and Ph.D. schools. In 2020 and 2023, she received the "Avvio alla Ricerca" grant from Sapienza University to support her research activity. Her research interests focus on the synthesis and characterization of functionalized noble metal and metal oxide nanoparticles, polymers and polymeric nanoparticles and their hybrid composites with potential applications in the field of sensing, optoelectronics, nanomedicine and biotechnology.
