Dr. Warner Alpízar Alpízar obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology (2001) and an MSc in Biology with an emphasis in Genetics and Molecular Biology (2004) from the University of Costa Rica. He earned a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from the University of Bergen, Norway in 2010. Between 2010 and 2012, he was a postdoc in the group of Dr. Michael Ploug at the Finsen Laboratory, Copenhagen University Hospital, Denmark, focusing on the expression of molecules related to invasion and metastasis in response to infection by Helicobacter pylori bacterium. Currently, he is a Full Professor at the University of Costa Rica. His research topics mainly include cancer biology, inflammation and cancer, cancer immunology, and Helicobacter pylori.
