Prof. Dr. Antonio Celso Dantas Antonino graduated in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in 1984. He earned his Master’s in Energy and Nuclear Technologies from UFPE in 1988 and his Ph.D. in Soil Physics from Joseph Fourier University—Grenoble I (France) in 1992. He is currently a full professor at UFPE.
He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at LTHE-INPG (France) from 2005 to 2006. He was a visiting professor (senior research internship) in the Department of Earth Resources Sciences at the University of Guelph, Canada, from November 4, 2009, to January 28, 2010. He also held a visiting professor position (senior research internship) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Pratt School of Engineering, Duke University, North Carolina, USA, from February 1 to May 31, 2012.
His research focuses on the following topics:
Mathematical modeling of water, heat, and solute transfers in the soil-plant-atmosphere system
Estimation of water flow parameters and solute transport in soils: laboratory and field methods and analytical methods (inverse methods)
Hydraulic and hydro-dispersive properties of unsaturated soils: description and measurements
Hydrological modeling
X-ray and gamma computed tomography in soils
Spatial and temporal variability (statistics and geostatistics)
