Prof. Mark John Masia is currently a Professor at the Centre for Infrastructure Performance and Reliability, The University of Newcastle. He received a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)(Honours), and a PhD from the same university. Since completing his PhD in 2000, he has worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at The University of Calgary, Canada (2000-2001) and then as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Newcastle (2001-). His research keywords include fiber reinforced polymer strengthening, masonry design, masonry structures–experimental masonry structures–numerical, reinforced concrete design, residential footings design, structural design, structural mechanics and timber design.
