Prof. Dr. Uwe Hampel is the Head of the Experimental Thermal Fluid Dynamics Division at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. He received a Diploma degree in computer science from Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, in 1993, an M.Sc. degree in digital systems engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, U.K., and the Ph.D. and Habilitation degrees from Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, in 1998 and 2005, respectively. Since 2006, he has been the Head of the Experimental Thermal Fluid Dynamics Division at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, Germany. Since 2012, he has been a Professor of imaging techniques for energy and process engineering with Technische Universität Dresden. His research interests include flow measurement techniques, process tomography, and multiphase flow. He was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Liège in 2019.
