Author Biographies

Cuong Ngoc Nguyen is a PhD student at Victoria University. His topic of research is quantifying the benefits of green infrastructure, with a focus on the benefits of biochar in green roof substrates. His research looks at the improvements in terms of runoff reduction as well as enhanced runoff water quality.
Dr. Hing-Wah Chau is the Course Chair in Building Design and a Senior Lecturer in the Built Environment at Victoria University. His research interests lie in sustainable built environments, green architecture and green infrastructure, architectural and urban design strategies, design for ageing and inclusive design, as well as design for health and well-being. Dr. Chau received a Citation for Learning and Teaching Excellence at Victoria University in 2022 and the Teaching Excellence Award at the University of Melbourne in 2018. Dr. Chau has more than ten years of professional practice experience in Hong Kong as a registered architect working in an interdisciplinary environment involving a range of projects, from small public structures and public housing to large infrastructural projects.
Dr. Nitin Muttil is the leader of the Water Resources Research Group in the Institute for Sustainable Industries and Liveable Cities at Victoria University (VU), Australia. His research expertise is in the areas of urban drainage modelling and flood control, water-sensitive urban design (WSUD), and the impacts of climate change on water resources. In recognition of his research efforts, Dr. Muttil was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Peak Award and a Citation For Excellence In Research & Research Training (Research Team Category) in 2011 and the Vice Chancellor’s Sustainable Award in 2022.
