Dr. Youping Sun currently serves as an Associate
Professor at the Department of Plants Soils and Climate, College of Agriculture
and Applied Sciences, Utah State University, Utah, USA. He received a B.S.
degree in Biotechnology from Hunan Agricultural University in 2001, an M.S.
degree in Biochemical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science &
Technology in 2004, and a Ph.D. degree in Plant Science from the University of
Maine in 2010. Before joining USU, he worked at Clemson University and Texas
A&M AgriLife Research Center. His area of research is landscape
horticulture with an emphasis on water conservation. Specifically, his research
focuses on better understanding whole-plant responses to water stress and
promoting the use of native plants for water-efficient landscaping through
developing efficient propagation protocols and sustainable cultural practices.
Dr. Sun was awarded the ASHS Nursery Crops Distinguished Achievement Award
(2021) and the prize of Early Career Competition (2022) by the American Society
for Horticultural Science.
