Author Biographies

Prof. Dr. Avraam Zelilidis was born in 1960 in Naoussa Imathias. He received his bachelor's in Geology in 1984 and his PhD thesis in Sedimentology in 1988 from the University of Patras. He worked as a lecturer since 1993 and as a professor in the Department of Geology of the University of Patras, Greece, since 2009. He was the Dean of the Natural Science School of the University of Patras during the period 2006–2010. He is an expert in Sedimentary Basins Analysis, Sequence Stratigraphy, and Petroleum Geology. He has run many research projects on the evaluation of hydrocarbon fields for oil companies, using data both from surface and subsurface and also he has organized several field seminars for oil company executives. He has published more than 100 papers in international journals, most of which focused on hydrocarbon prospectivity in Greece. He was a guest speaker at international forums on hydrocarbon subjects.
Dr. Nicolina Bourli holds a bachelor’s degree in Geology since 2015, MSc degree since 2017 and PhD in Sedimentology since 2021 from the Department of Geology, University of Patras, Greece. Her expertise is in the Carbonate Sedimentology, Sedimentary Basin Analysis and the Petroleum Geology. She has participated in international meetings around the world presenting her work. In addition, she has so far published fifteen papers in regional and international journals. She has participated in several hydrocarbon evaluation projects for oil companies, using surface data. In the academic years 2021-2024 she was Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geology, University of Patras in the courses of Sedimentary Basin Analysis, Petroleum Geology and Field Course I. Moreover, she is member of the International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Geological Society of Greece.
