Prof. Deqing Zhu received his M.S. and Ph.D. in mineral processing from Central South University of Technology in 1989 and 1994, respectively. He is currently a professor at the School of Minerals Processing and Bioengineering, Central South University. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee on Raw Materials of the Iron-making Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals, a member of the Academic Committee on Non-Blast Furnace Iron-making of the Iron-making Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals, a member of the Sub-Technical Committee on the Conservation and Intensive Utilization of Mineral Resources of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Land and Resources, and a consulting expert in mineral processing and metallurgy for FMG Iron Mining Company in Australia. He is also a member of the editorial board of “Minerals Processing and Extractive Metallurgy” and “Journal of Iron and Steel Research” in Australia and China. He has been honored as an Expert with Outstanding Contributions by the State Council, the First National Young Teachers' Award in Colleges and Universities, a Key Teacher of the Ministry of Education, an Excellent Teacher of Baosteel, and an Excellent Graduate Tutor of Central South University.
