Author Biographies

Leopoldo Palma studied Microbiology in Argentina and completed his Ph.D. in Biotechnology at the Public University of Navarra, Spain. His doctoral research focused on novel strains and insecticidal proteins of Bacillus thuringiensis (Berliner). Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Palma held a postdoctoral position at UPNA, where he expanded his expertise. Dr. Palma then obtained positions as an Associated Researcher at CONICET and an Associate Professor at Universidad Nacional de Villa María in Argentina, where he supervised a research group dedicated to discovering native strains of B. thuringiensis with potential pesticidal activities. He collaborated closely with international colleagues and the agribusiness sector. In 2022, Dr. Palma returned to Spain to join the University of Valencia, where he currently holds the position of Distinguished Researcher María Zambrano at the Institute BIOTECMED. His research focuses on elucidating cellular receptors for insecticidal proteins from B. thuringiensis.With a strong background in his field and extensive research experience, Dr. Palma has been a member of the Bacterial Pesticidal Protein Resource Center since 2021, working alongside other top researchers in the field.
