Dr. Abdulla F. Alshater currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering, University of Bahrain, also acting as a member of the Weapons Non-proliferation National Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His PhD research was on the radiation-induced segregation (RIS) of UK AGR spent nuclear-fuel cladding during interim wet storage. This investigative endeavor was part of the UK EPSRC and BNFL-funded "Keeping the Nuclear Option Open" KNOO consortium programme. He received his PhD in 2010 from the University of Manchester. He also holds an M.Sc. in Corrosion Control Engineering, attained from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in 2005. He received his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from King Abdulaziz University Faculty of Engineering in 2003. His research interests include Intergranular Stress Corrosion Cracking, Thermal Sensitization, and Pulse Electroplating.
Dr. A. S. Hakeem currently serves as an Associate Professor/Research Scientist at the Center of Research Excellence in Nano-Technology (CENT), King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM, 2010-present). He received his B.Sc. in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Punjab in 1997, his M.Sc. in Materials Engineering from the University of Leeds in 2001, and his Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry from Stockholms Universitet in 2007. He conducted instrumental research with Arrhenius Laboratories for the design and development of “Ln-SiON, LnSiAlON glasses, Its synthesis, and characterization” (2002) and “Novel route of oxynitride glass synthesis and their characterization” (2003-2007). His research area at the CENT is related to the synthesis of nanostructured WC-based hard metals, composites materials, light metals/composites, and the characterization of synthesized and sintered materials. Additionally, he has hands-on technical skills related to the synthesis of inorganic materials and has supervised many projects.
