Author Biographies

Bingze Xia received his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada in 2018, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. Since 2020 he has been a research assistant at National Research Council Canada. His research focuses on Intelligent UAV development, AI-based control approaches, counter-UAS technologies, and robot de-confliction.
Dr. Iraj Mantegh is a Technology and Team Lead and Senior Research Officer at National Research Council Canada (NRC)’s Aerospace Research Centre. From 2013 to 2019, he successfully led a major multidisciplinary national research and technology development program (Civil UAS) in the area of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), managing significant investments and initiatives that contributed to over 200 research publications and several patents and intellectual properties at NRC. His current research interests include counter-drone technologies and airspace integration, where he has developed new methods and published extensively in recent years. He is a recipient of two NRC Intellectual Property Awards in the Creation category, and is the author or co-author of over 100 technical research publications and three patents. Dr. Mantegh holds a Ph.D. in Mechatronics from the University of Toronto and an MBA from McGill University.
Dr. Wen-Fang Xie (Senior Member, IEEE) received her Master's degree in Automatic Control from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing, China in 1991 and her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong in 1999. From 2002 to 2003, she served as a Senior Research Engineer with InCoreTec, Inc., St. John's, NL, Canada. She joined Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada in 2003, where she is currently a full Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Aerospace Engineering. Her research interests include nonlinear control and identification in mechatronics, artificial intelligence-based control, visual servoing, and robotics. Dr. Xie held an Industrial Research Fellowship from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
