Dr. Sin Chan Chou now serves as a Senior Researcher at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). She received a Bachelor’s degree in meteorology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) (1985), a Master’s degree in meteorology from the INPE (1990), and a PhD degree in meteorology from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom (1993). Furthermore, she served as Head of the Operations Division, Head of the Modeling and Development Division of the Center for Weather Forecasting and Climate Studies, and Head of the Numerical Modeling for the Earth System Division of the General Coordination of Earth Science. She also served as Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Meteorology at the INPE. Her research topics mainly include Eta model development, weather forecasting, limited area modeling, cumulus convection parameterization, model evaluation, regional climate modeling, the production of climate change scenarios in South America, climate change, and climate services.
