Dr. Sakib Moinuddin is a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department
of Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Sciences, California Northstate University
College of Pharmacy, Elk Grove, CA, USA. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from
China Pharmaceutical University, China, and M. Pharm. and B. Pharm. degrees
from Primeasia University and Atish Dipankar University of Science &
Technology. He worked in both the Quality Assurance Department and the
Production Department of Delta Pharma Limited. Before joining California
Northstate University College of Pharmacy, he was a Senior Scientist at Guilin
Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., China, and a member of FosunPharma. He was awarded a
Guilin High-Level Talent Certificate from the Guilin Municipal Committee of the
Communist Party of China. He has several publications in a renowned scientific
journal and multiple Chinese Patents. His research focuses on delivering poor
water-soluble drugs, crystallization of pharmaceutical solids and liquids,
Pharmacokinetics, immediate release, controlled release, and targeted drug
delivery.
Dr. Fakhrul Ahsan is a distinguished professor at the
California Northstate University College of Pharmacy (CNUCOP). Before joining
CNUCOP, Dr. Ahsan was a distinguished university professor at Texas Tech
University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), wherein he served as a faculty member for 19
years. A pharmacist by training, he earned his pharmacy degree from the
University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. He received his Ph.D. in pharmaceutics from the
Complutense University of Madrid and his postdoctoral training from the
University of Alabama at Birmingham. TTUHSC recognized his excellence as an
educator and investigator by awarding him with the President’s Young
Investigator Award in 2004. His research revolves around developing novel
formulations for the pulmonary delivery of small- and large-molecular-weight
therapeutic agents for treating pulmonary hypertension. He has also been
deploying microfluidic chips for understanding the PAH pathophysiology and
developing diagnostic markers for PAH. His research also involves 3D printing
for customized dosage forms for pediatric PAH patients. He is a member of the
editorial boards of the European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the
Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and was an Associate Editor of
the Journal of Drug Targeting. Dr. Ahsan is an NIH-funded investigator: he has
received three R15s, two R01 grants, and an R42 grant. He also serves at
various NIH and DoD study sections.
Ruth Vinall is a Professor and the Assistant Dean of Research in the Department of
Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Sciences at California Northstate University
College of Pharmacy (CNUCOP). She received her Ph.D. from Cardiff University,
U.K., Department of Anatomy. After receiving her doctoral degree, she worked as
a postdoctoral researcher at UC Davis Medical Center. In 2009, she completed an
NIH K30 program-funded M.A.S. degree in Clinical Research at UC Davis and was
subsequently appointed as a research faculty member in the Department of Urology.
During her time at UC Davis, she supervised multiple undergraduate, graduate,
and medical students, and in 2009 and 2010, was awarded Outstanding Mentor
awards for her work with the UC Davis CURE program. Her research focuses on
prostate and bladder cancer research as well as educational research. In
addition to prostate cancer health disparities research, she is interested in
determining the mechanisms of chemoresistance and identifying the biomarkers that can
predict a patient’s response to chemotherapy, in which a primary focus is miRNA
research.
