Dr. Sean McPherson received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, USA, in 2004, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA, in 2007 and 2011, respectively. From 2011 to 2018, he was a Systems Engineer with Northrop Grumman. Since 2018, he has been a Research Scientist with Intel Corporation in the AI Lab. His research interests include applications of signal processing to computer network traffic analysis, machine learning for cybersecurity, and data-efficient machine learning.
Dr. Alan J. Michaels is a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Virginia Tech. He serves as the director for the Spectrum Dominance division at the National Security Institute, where he leads research and workforce development in digital communications, SIGINT, RF machine learning, and automotive cybersecurity applications. Previously, he served 10 years with the Harris Corporation as a senior engineering manager, an advanced program lead for R&D technology, and a systems engineer. Dr. Michaels earned a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering, a B.S. and M.S. in applied mathematics, an M.S. in operations research from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. His research areas include digital communications, satellite communications, radio frequency machine learning, digital chaos, and non-traditional hardware.
