Prof. Antonio Pérez-González has been a University Professor in the area of Mechanical Engineering since 2008. He earned his degree as an Industrial Engineer in 1989 from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and a doctorate from the same university in 1994. He completed his doctoral thesis at the Department of Applied Thermodynamics from Jaume I University in the field of thermofluidodynamic modeling of internal combustion engines. He has been a Professor in the area of Mechanical Engineering at the Universitat Jaume I since 1993. His research and technology transfer has focused mainly on the fields of mechanical design and biomechanics. He is responsible for the creation of the Biomechanics and Ergonomics research group at Jaume I University, of which he is the Director. His main contributions in the field of biomechanics have focused on the biomechanics of the human hand and the study of grasping and manipulation with it, as well as its applications in the fields of tool design and medical planning. Other areas of research have been the biomechanics of the knee and the biomechanics of dental restorations, as well as the mechanical design and synthesis of mechanisms. His most recent research focuses on the design and evaluation of artificial hands for robotic and prosthetic applications.
