Dr. Mudasir Rashid is a post-doctoral researcher and Instructor in the Department of Medicine, Gastroenterology Division, at Howard University Hospital Cancer Center. He earned his Ph.D. in Life Sciences (Cancer Biology) from the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research, and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Homi Bhabha National Institute, India, and holds a Master's degree in Genetic Engineering (Biotechnology). Dr. Rashid's research focuses on the genetic basis of colorectal cancer, particularly in underrepresented African-American populations. He identified six novel non-synonymous mutations in the mismatch repair gene MSH3, affecting different protein domains. His work, published in high-impact journals like Neoplasia and BioMed Research International, highlights his contributions to cancer research. He is involved in a multi-center clinical trial on bowel disease–ulcerative colitis (IBD-UC) (NCT04749576) at Howard University Hospital. Dr. Rashid actively participates in national and international conferences and is an associate member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). He teaches and trains M.D. and graduate students in basic science techniques and serves as an editor and reviewer for journals like Frontiers in Genetics and Epigenomes (MDPI). Dr. Rashid's contributions to research and education continue to drive progress in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
