Prof. Jinzhong Min received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in
Meteorology from Nanjing Meteorological Institute in 1995 and 2000,
respectively. He became an Associate Professor in 2001, a Professor in 2006,
and a Doctoral Supervisor in 2007. In 2002–2003, he visited the Center for
Analysis and Prediction of Storms (CAPS) of the University of Oklahoma, USA,
and in 2006, he went to the Center for Theoretical Physics, Italy, to exchange
views on “Theory and Applications of Regional Climate Models”. He is currently
the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University of
Information Science and Technology. In addition, he was Vice President of
NUIST, Vice Chairman of the China Committee of the World Weather Research
Program (WWRP) of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and Co-Chairman
of the Weather Cluster of the Chinese Meteorological Society (CMS). His
research interests include meteorological data assimilation, convective-scale
ensemble forecasting, the mechanism of occurrence and development of severe
convective weather, and the development of regional numerical weather models.
